PCLinux OS with it's motto "Radically Simple" is a really simple Linux Distro. It's not difficult to run it on my computer since it is a live cd.
We have to option on login whether to choose "guest" or "root" account. On the login display the password is displayed. Running in a guest account will not give us the install option.
It runs smoothly with KDE on my computer AMD Duron 850MHz with 512M of RAM and I've tried in AMD Athlon 1600MHz with 256 M of RAM without any problem.
Then I tried the installation and it's radically simple. The most important thing is to know about the partitioner. It took only 15 minutes to complete the installation. All operating systems are detected well and store in MBR so we can choose what to boot, including Windows.
Everything we need on basic computing is available. Office, instant messenger, PDF viewer, Multimedia (Kaffeine, KMPlayer and Mplayer, Amarok) has already installed. The multimedia codecs are quite complete.
One thing that I feel disappointed is that Kaffeine crashes when I try to play VCD. But I can play it on KMPlayer and MPlayer. For MP3 collectors, you can play your MP3 with Amarok or other video players.
To manage the computer is easy since PCLinux OS use Mandriva as the basis.
Overall it is the linux distro that is suitable for everyone, newbies or even an expert in Linux.
